You can never go back to your past, but so many of us want to for one reason or another.

“If I could do it all over again… [insert how we would avoid a mistake or pain from the past here]”

It happens in every field, whether it’s wanting to change something that went wrong in our childhood, our labor, or how things went with our baby or maybe breastfeeding journey.

What if you could have a re-do? Or, even better, smoothen things out from where we are now?

I think our current culture is somewhat obsessed with the idea of “RE”, whether it’s re-birthing, re-wilding, re-villaging, or re-what-have-you.

We all have some way we’d like to re-imagine what is possible for ourselves and our families.

In this chat with the absolutely generous and amazing powerhouse

, she taught me so much about the specifics of how our earliest movements reside in the subconscious of our nervous system—either dormant, or activated.

I may not have all the language and detail exactly right, but here are a couple ideas that came to mind for me based on what Amanda shared today:

For a baby having trouble getting going, movement and activation of these reflexes may help them more successfully breastfeed or make it through their other milestones.

For an older child or adult, finishing or re-doing the process by which these same reflexes go dormant may help them move into their next developmental milestone or act with a more mature nervous system response.

A reflex is something that happens in response to a stimulus—and of course we are all bombarded with all sorts of stimuli each day!

I was so excited to have this conversation because of how much working with Amanda during my 5th pregnancy helped me make it through my 3rd trimester with less pain.

I hope you enjoy the conversation! Make sure to connect with Amanda if her methods resonate with you.
