I was in the garden yesterday in the sweet heat of the afternoon and my face was all pink and oily:) I'll go get my shorts for tomorrow!

Nikko,

You brought up something I've always wondered about: don't shower for how long? If I shower in the evening after a sunny day, does that still wash of the Vitamin D, or have I absorbed it by then?

I'm going to put dminder on my phone, it sounds super useful. Thank you!

Cindy

Great question! I went to find a quantified answer and it was difficult! In practice, I have just been avoiding hot soapy showers on days I sunbathe. Certainly on a hot summer day I am not going to worry about the cold river washing my Vitamin D away! What I read in the research is that the blood levels peak 24-48 hours after exposure. But then, I read another study about topical application of Vitamin D and according to their work, water actually increases absorption rates of most topically applied medicines (even oily ones). So, now I am unsure! This deserves more investigation and I will be sure to let you know what I find out.

Hi! I still haven't found a specific answer, but I did recently find another, larger, study showing that topical application of D3 works! They didn't mention specifically what time of day or how long participants left the Vit D3/Aloe Vera combination on their skin: https://www.clincosm.com/trial/vitamin-d-deficiency-alkhobar-application-of-topical-d3-top-aloe
