Updates and happenings (2024/08/01)
A few minor changes to the publication format, new podcast episode, work and leaderboard updates and a mentorship invitation
I am really enjoying the growth of the community and getting to know everyone who has been joining and participating. You are always welcome to jump into the comments section to not only ask questions, but also share your stories. In today’s post, I’d love to hear what is fresh and relevant for you right now, and I’ll do the same!
Has July been rough?
I’d love to hear in the comments about what kinds of themes and changes you have been going through lately. I’ve been hearing across the board it’s a time of big feelings and big transitions—would you agree?
Updates
With all the recent growth here at Brighter Days, Darker Nights, a few changes to the format also make sense to me right now. I hope these will nurture and protect the blossoming going on in myself and this publication:
I’ve closed the community chat. Previously, access to the chat was a perk of being a paid subscriber, but frankly, it’s been very quiet. I don’t personally enjoy group chats, and so maybe it’s my energy.
Instead, I’ve set my access for Substack DM’s to paid subscribers only. Now, you can message me directly when you have questions instead of going to the group chat and our chat will keep an ongoing feed of our conversations. I think this will work better for keeping the threads of our conversations together. Let me know what you think. For full transparency, this change is also part of tightening down my DM settings because I don’t really enjoy random writers reaching out to ask me to subscribe to their publications or do things for them for free. And I’ve been getting too much of that lately. So, that’s a little experiment and we’ll see how it goes.
I started a new series of posts here. I am publishing much more frequently than I send to my main list. If you are new to Brighter Days, Darker Nights, you are getting these automatically. If you’ve been around a while, you are still only on my original list. Here’s where you can manage your email settings to turn on/off these short daily posts: https://www.brighterdaysdarkernights.com/account. These new posts are quicker and based more on my experiences living this day-to-day or fielding practical questions from community members, compared with my usual weekly research posts.
I took the paywall off the archive. Previously, you had to be a paid subscriber to read posts older than a year, but ultimately, this doesn’t feel right. I am happy to create this work, and with that deep archive, you can definitely find plenty of information to advance your knowledge regardless of if you pay or not. I also noticed a lot of my SEO traffic was going to those old posts (like my original Solar Callus post and my Dminder review, for example). I want new readers to actually get what they were looking for without running into a paywall first thing. So, this is a win for everyone, I think. You can browse the archive at www.brighterdaysdarkernights.com/archive.
I am going to start releasing posts to paid subscribers first. While the whole archive (aside from my video content) is now free, I’m going to show a little extra love to my paid subscribers by releasing posts to you first. Thank you so much to everyone who supports the immense work I put into this publication. Free subscribers will get posts 3-10 days after the initial release. Upgrade to support my work and join this inner circle!
Leaderboard progress update. Earlier this year, I found out Substack, where I publish this content, has a Parenting leaderboard and Brighter Days, Darker Nights was at #73. Thanks to everyone who has found, shared, and engaged since then, we have now climbed to #55! That circadian and quantum wellness for the birthing year is such a resonant topic really makes my heart shine. Thank you again for all the support. If there is anyone you can think of who might enjoy this publication, here’s where you can share it with them, earn free months of a paid account, and help elevate this message:
Happenings:
I goofed! Last week, I taught a community class called Master the Belly… and I forgot to hit record 😵🎥 So… I will be doing a re-do. The new date TBD, possibly toward the end of this month, or we might wait until December when my schedule frees up a little bit.
Podcasts. I was recently on the Quantum Connection Roundtable with Kelley and Lauren (listen here). And I returned to talk about blue light and children with Meredith on The Quantum Biology Collective podcast earlier this month—I’ll be sure to let you know when it comes out. Also look out for my upcoming podcast releases with Molly Eastman of Sleep is a Skill, Alex Balgood with Leap of Health, Laura and Andeea of Quantum Healthy, and Maryn Green of Taking Back Birth.
New IAQB cohort this Fall. I joined the team at Institute of Applied Quantum Biology back in May of this year. We will be enrolling a new cohort this September, and it’s the first cohort that will have me “officially” a part of the leadership and teaching teams. If you take the certification, you’ll get my 2 new classes, one about translational medicine and the other about business development and workflows for streamlining client-side work. I’ll also be hosting several of the Q&A’s for students to ask me questions in real time about research, business, and of course, quantum biology! The program is really great, and if you have been thinking about getting your Applied Quantum Biology Certification, I’d love to see you inside. Learn more and get on the waitlist here.
New mentorship availability. Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of group work and one-time consultations. These are each rewarding in their own ways, but I’ve found myself missing the connections I had when I was doing more long-term service offerings. So… I’d like to welcome 3 mothers or practitioners (ideally both!) to mentor with me through 2024-2025. With these spots, I look forward to supporting your long-term growth. My year-long coaching and mentorship program includes regular phone or video calls, written emails, and DM access across social media platforms to help you achieve your goals at home and in business. This isn’t a group offer—all sessions and communications will be just between you and me so we can really connect and grow your capacity in a way that is very custom and flows with your interests and energy across the year. Email me if you would be interested in learning more about this. I can only take 3 at this time, so please reach out soon if you think this might be you either this time, or next time I open mentorship slots up.
Thank you everyone for reading these updates and happenings!
